Planes, Brains, and Automobiles

We haven't had a chance to write for a bit so I thought I'd take a moment to catch up now that Christmas has finally come and gone.

The past several weeks have been very busy for our family both in regards to work and fun.
Ben and Valerie had a chance to travel a few weeks ago back to one of our favorite places and where our family got it's start, Rexburg, ID.
Valerie's sister Keri and her husband Dave were getting their degrees from BYU-I and they just couldn't pass up the opportunity to go and congratulate them.
Valerie and Ben met up with Val's mom and flew together on a couple of tiny planes first Boise and then Idaho Falls. The flights on the prop planes were loud and bumpy (an adventure in their own right).

They were happy to finally be back on solid ground by the time we got there. Some thing is Rexburg never change. Winters are as cold as ever and snow still seems to be the norm. Ben was happy to see snow again as it had been a while. He still finds the stuff to be a tasty treat and wishes we had more of this falling in Washington.

Yummy!

There are however many things that have changed in Rexburg. It is no longer the sleepy little town that it was back in the Ricks days. Both the college and the campus have grown by leaps and bounds. The most gorgeous sight is of course the new temple that is being build and that sits on the hill overlooking the city. It was neat to be able to see it almost completed. We even got to see the cornerstone which has of course not yet been placed.

The highlight and purpose of the trip of course was to congratulate the newest grads in the family on their accomplishment. Way to go Keri and Dave!

Following graduation, Val's mom got to fly home again while Valerie and Ben took the long route, riding along in the car following Dave who was driving their moving van back to Tacoma. It was a long and slow journey that had them leaving Rexburg early on Saturday morning but not arriving at their destination until around 3:00 on Saturday morning.

They were very happy to be back home again.
