A while back when it was first released we bought a Nintendo Wii for our family. We have kids that love video games and us parents do too. We however are not really fans of the ultra-realistic type games and really don't care for the first person shooters that you get on a lot of the game systems so we have always been pretty loyal to the Nintendo franchise, in particular the Nintendo branded games. (Mario, Zelda, etc.)
The past several releases of Nintendo systems have been nice but very tame (some might say lame) compared to some of the other systems. We were very happy when the Wii was released as we can honestly say without hyperbole that it is a billion times better than all of the other systems put together. We love it.
We had many family bowling tournaments on the Wii, many heated tennis matches and have enjoyed a lot of the games that have come out. This past week however, we bought what I think is my new favorite with the release of Mariokart Wii. The game rocks. You place the Wii's motion sensative controller in a sterring wheel and control the car by actually steering the wheel to the left and right.
We ended up buying the game and a total of four wheels so most of the family (sorry Ben) could race against each other at the same time.
We have had a lot of fun racing against each other these past several days during breaks in our otherwise busy schedule or just to relax for a while.
Yesterday was a perfect day since it was Stake Conference Sunday. We attended the earlier 9:00 AM session and were free after that. Being Sunday, we were forced (thank goodness) to take a break from the other yard projects that we have going on and ended up spending a good portion of the day in friendly competition.
Now if I could just get the kids to let me race alone long enough to unlock some more of the hidden tracks and characters.

I haven't picked this one up yet, but I probably should. Not sure how this would go with the rest of the family though (although I suspect Terence would beat everyone by ridiculous amounts nonetheless.)
YOu already got it!!! Is it Val's mothers day present!!!! We think that this would be a fun addition to our Nintendo collection!! Our very sad small collection of video games! I know Joe would love to take Josh on!
Brian - you have to get it - we can play online against each other.
Adrienne - Jeff just bought it and came home with it one day. I don't think there has even been 10 minutes with it turned off since then.
SUPER FUN GAME!!
Nice! I can't wait to get this one!!
We will be adding this to our collection soon. I can't wait to drive circles around any of the VanderHoevens!
