One Room Down - One House to Go

This promises to be a “fun” (quotation marks intentional) weekend.

Yesterday we had kind of a preview of what is to come. My dad is getting new carpet in his house on Saturday morning and so all of his offspring, their children and any strangers that might be passing by will be working in his house to take everything apart and put everything back together again once the carpet layers leave.

Having gotten new carpet ourselves a few months ago, we know that this is no easy task. It isn’t unlike preparing for a flood, only instead of moving all of your worldly posetions to higher ground, you move them to places where carpeting doesn’t or won’t exist. You know, put your china hutch in the bathtub and stuff like that.

Hopefully we will have enough of a family gathering tonight to make this all happen. This is a big house decorated in the style of “Heavy Furniture” so there should be plenty of work for all.

Last night our family went over with the Sirrine family to get a head start and dissasemble my dad’s office/geneology room. We decided it could use a coat of paint before the new carpet came in. This seemed like and easy enough job until we got going on it. There was A LOT of stuff in that one little room. Taking the computers and the apparently self-propogating cables apart alone was not unlike dismantling the control room at NORAD.

Also, the laws of phyics that I’m familiar with told me that the desk that was in the room was likely there before the room itself was built.

Eventually though we got the room emptied and got a fresh coat of paint on the walls which was applied in record time. One room down, many, many more to go.

Ok, so it's late and I'm tired (i know, 8:50 isn't late for everyone, but whatever). I had to read the geneology part a bunch of times... I kept reading gynecology and then had to wonder, 1) i didn't know your dad was a doctor and 2) why does he have an office and gynecology room combo? anyhow. time for some sleep.
