Temperatures were soaring into the mid-90’s in our neck of the woods towards the end of last week and over the weekend. Like true northwesterners and as we also mentioned before, we of course have no air-conditioning in our home.
When it gets hot outside, it also gets very hot inside our house. I blame Al Gore.
There is really no solution to this problem other than going to the grocery store and sticking your head in the ice-cream freezer.
The kitchen and our bedroom ceiling fans run at full blast 24 hrs a day and Valerie did go buy some other supplemental fans and placed them strategically throughout the house which served to basically push the hot air around. Instead of sitting in a giant sauna, you are now sitting in a giant blow drier.
When the Sirrines invited us along to the pool to beat the heat on Saturday, we were all over it. Yes, I'm aware that we have blogged about going to the McChord AFB Swimming Pool before but it is truly a wonderful summer destination. We spent most of the day on Saturday just bobbing around.
Joshua was very proud to take and pass the lifeguard swimming test there. You have to take that test in order to have access to the diving boards on the deep part of the pool if you are not an adult. You get a little numbered badge that they pin to your swimsuit that access to that area. He was proud to finally have his.
We'd better learn to appreciate the hot days while we still have them. It is in the 60's and raining today!

Well. I hate to tell you, but I have air conditioning... I'm just too poor to turn it on. Ahhh life's ironies... how sweet they are.
