Northwest Trek

This Saturday, we went with a lot of the family to Northwest Trek. For those not from the area, this is a wildlife park, kind of like a zoo but not quite. It is all northwest native animals. You walk around for some of it and ride around on a tram for another part. Think Jurassic Park without the blood and death.

We went with a lot of the family that is still left in the area, you know, not at college or married. We had the Walsh family (Judy, Jack, and Laura), the Sirrine family (Pam, Mike, Jacob, and Michelle), most of the Aguirre family (Linda, Adam, and Tyler), and most of the Keenan family (Jacki, Connor, and Corey).

While this may seem like a lot to many people - but we are becoming a smaller crowd. The VanderHoeven Machine frequently travels in packs.

Josh will take any chance to climb something. We actually saw a moose this big!

Ben loved watching the bears. In fact, on the way home, as we tried to quiz him on the animals he saw he would only say bears.

Ben really liked riding on the windowless tram and hanging out on various people's laps while he saw moose, mountain goats, bison, elk, swans, deer and whatever else was there. This was really nice because many of the animals were right outside the open windows.

By the end of the day, the excitement was just too much for Ben! He was zonked out while the other kids were still off running around.
