There are many things that are bad ideas to do with kids. More specifically on a day with no school. Let me explain what is #1 on that list.
#1 - Take your kids to a McDonalds with a playland.
Yesterday Amie Nicolas and I were going to go down and do a test run of a toddler time that is held on Tuesdays in Fife to see if it would be fun to have playgroup go there. When we got there, we found it was not being held that day for Veteran's Day. It was pouring down rain, so outdoor parks were out of the question, so spur of the moment changed our plans to going to McDonalds so the little ones could use up some of their energy. Between the 2 of us, we had 6 kids with us.
My brother Joe called and he was off work and his kids were wanting some cousin time, so they headed over to McDonalds too. So, for an updated total - (he brought Sarah with him from a sleepover at the Sirrine's house) - we now had 10 kids and 4 adults.
When we got to McDonalds it wasn't horrible. We did have to wait for tables, but someone we knew was there, so we were able to sit with them until they left.
I will say - I have been to many McDonalds - and I have never seen the crowding that converged on this one come about noon. There were lines out the playland of moms with happy meals on their trays in line just to get into the playland. I am sure there were many fire codes being broken. The regular dining room was no different. There were lines of people with trays of food and no where for them to sit. People were hovering over people whose tables had the inkling that most of their food was now gone. It was unbelievable. I was so grateful we had gotten there before that rush.
This is only a partial picture of the show pile. I couldn't get all of it because there were so many kids. But they were spilling over throughout most of the walking area.
On the bright side, and a different note - I filled my gas tank yesterday for $31 total!! I am loving the priced going down on gas.

That WAS crazy...14 people at one table for 4...YIKES!!!
Wow, wish we could have been there too! What's 3 more people when you already have that many?? :)
Now I see what I have to look forward to... McDonald's playlands! Yay! And I totally hear ya on the gas. Dan asked if the other day if he should fill it up or just get $50. I told him to just fill it up and get it over with. It filled for $46.00!!! Awesome.
