I feel like I have gotten so far behind in posting what is going on - we have had a couple busy weeks. Having our living room look like it does hasn't helped - and kind of constantly makes me feel like I will never get caught up. Hopefully this week is a little slower and we can get some more of that done.
This past week Josh was our busy one.
In addition to all the other things going on, it was time for the Blue and Gold dinner for scouts. Josh has earned his Bear badge and recieved it at the pack meeting. He will be turning 10 in the next couple weeks and will be moving up to Webelos then. He will be in Jeff's group and he is really excited about that.
The theme for the Blue and Gold dinner this year was the Olympics. Each boy needed to bring a cake decorated in the theme, that the boys helped with. Josh wanted to do something with the Olympic Rings.
Jeff voted we go this route (courtesy of one of my favorite blogs - http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/
But since everyone knows that scouts is as much about the boys as it is what the moms can do, there was no way that was showing up under my name. This is what we ended up with. I am fully aware that USUALLY the Olympic Rings interlock - and I had every intention of these interlocking, but once we started frosting, it just didn't work out that way. But as you can see, we did get Best Olympic Theme, so I am happy with that.He also had a big month long reading project due. This was due the day after the Blue and Gold dinner. So of course, he started working on it AFTER the Blue and Gold dinner. He chose to do his report on the book Captain Underpants. I find it kind of amusing that the first google image that came up for it is from a school that is showing a listing of banned books. (For encouraging bad behaviors in children). Having a child that I already have to fight with to get him to read, I like finding books that he actually WANTS to read, rather than HAS to read. He had to go a presentation in front of the class and had a couple different options such as a diorama, dressing as the character (which I really tried for, but it was voted down as too embarrassing), or creating a cereal box based on the main character. This was our cereal box -
Doesn't everyone want Marshmallow Underpants in their cereal?
He was happy with the final result - and now I think his schedule can calm down this week after his Recorder concert........hahaha...Doesn't everyone want Marshmallow Underpants in their cereal?
