Dog Days of Spring

What a glorious weekend we finally had this week. Temperatures broke into the 70’s over the weekend which was a welcome change from what things had been like here for the past several months.

I noticed on the news last night that they said that it had been 188 days since temperatures were as warm as they were yesterday. Hopefully that means that we have a bit more of spring to look forward to.

On Saturday we spent the evening visiting in Bonney Lake and brought the dog, Boone over with us. Since we brought our black lab, and the Sirrines, who we were visiting also have a black lab and my brother who has a yellow and chocolate lab also brought his dogs over, we had quite a lab party going on.

That is a lot of dog.

Some of us boys took a short walk to a nearby pond where we could throw a ball or two around for the dogs and they could romp around and do dog things.

It was a lot of fun and even Benjamin loved getting in the action even though the dogs were disappointed by his throwing arm.

At one point Ben called out to me. “Dad, I found a lizard!” Indeed he had found a little newt on the shore of the pond. He was proud of himself and to show his find.

By the way, those are Cheetos around his mouth and on his hands. It looks like he had been licking newt.

In the end, the dogs got to get good and wet and dirty. That’s how you could tell they had a great time.

It did look like he was licking the newt! Thank you for clarifying!

I was going to ask about whether Ben had been sucking on the newt. It was a glorious week-end.

Yay for good weather. Not to complain too much, but it really would have helped had it come a few days earlier!!!
