School's Out For Summer!

We had a CRAZY busy last week! We are crossing our fingers that with summer starting things at least slow down a little bit but somehow it seems that our summer schedules get booked very early.

Last week we started off with the Josh being in the school talent show. He performed the same magic trick he had done at the pack meeting awhile ago -but this time he had another 9 yr old boy inside the box who had a microphone to be sure to moan and groan for the whole crowd everytime a stick got put in. They had the crowd howling with laughter. They were definitely a hit with the school kids managing to squeeze a bit of comedy in between and endless line of aspiring pianists. This is a really bad picture, but I couldn't really get any closer.

The next day was the last day of school and both the kids got out early and we decided to go to the movies to celebrate. We have decided to make that a fun last day of school tradition. We went and saw Kung Fu Panda, which was actually pretty cute. We were very blessed to have Ben fall asleep on the way there and not wake up until about 1/2 hr before the end. I always wonder what goes through a toddler's mind, fall asleep in the car and you never know where you are going to wake up.

That night was also the first night of Cub Scout Day camp. Day Camp this year was held for 3 nights from 5-9 pm. The boys go around from class to class learning lots of fun new stuff and being able to earn badges. This year they asked me (Valerie) to be one of the leaders that helped take a group around. While this doesn't seem like that big of a deal - there was a lot of walking for this pregnant girl, or maybe it was just keeping a pack of 9 yr old boys with primitive weapons under control. We had a den of 6 Bear Scouts (9 yrs old) and they got to do some fun stuff like shoot BB guns, archery, woodworking, magic, obstacle course... Josh had a blast! Each night when I got home though, I was ready to crash!
The day after that, we were getting ready for the weekend - or so we thought! Pam called us Friday morning to invite us up to McChord Airforce Base to go swimming. If you asked my kids what their favorite thing to do in the summer, I think without a doubt they would say swimming at McChord. So we hurried and did a quick clean up for the weekend to come and headed down to McChord. The kids had so much fun. We went with Pam, Michelle, Laura, Chris, and Cat, me, and the 3 kids. Thanks for inviting us - we are always up for swimming.
