Who are you People?

A few weeks back while surfing through one of the blogs I frequent, I noticed the cool little ClustrMaps map that showed where in the world people were that were looking at your blog.

Being a bit of a geography buff, I guess you could kind of say that I am into maps and thought it would be neat to see all the places pop up with little dots people viewed our little slice of the web.

I've got to say though that as this has gone on, I have been surprised to see some of the places that we have been seen.

I instantly recognize some of the locations as being places where we have friends and family that also blog. We look at their blogs, they look at ours. Simple enough.

It is some of the other dots that have left me wondering. I see places in the United States showing up that I have no idea about. I don't know anybody in Chicago besides Oprah and Michael Jordan and I'm nearly certain they don't know me. Do we have a lurking lobster fisherman in Maine?

What really has me puzzled though is how people in other more exotic locations are coming upon this little blog. I see Iran, I see Turkey. I know I don't know anybody there.

Europe is also very well represented with Spain, France, England and Switzerland all checking in. Surprisingly there isn't a peep from the Netherlands. The one place there might actually be other VanderHoevens.

Surprisingly, or not, I doesn't appear that anyone south of the equator has ever chanced across this blog. C'mon Namibia, get with the program.

I know all of this type of thing freaks some people out. They don't know who is looking at their baby pictures and they don't like it so they stop posting or lock their blog down. I, being naively optomistic on the other hand tend to think it's kind of neat. You know, one small world, the human race, Kumbaya and all that jazz.

So I guess what I am getting to with all this is that I would love to hear how people who stumble upon this blog got here. Take a minute to comment on this post and identify yourselves.

Who's out there?

This blog gives me the perfect opportunity to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I enjoy blogs from all of my family branches, but yours is especially entertaining.

We will claim OR and AK. I showed my dad your geocaching blog when were there, which makes me wonder if that blog is the reason you got so much interest from around the globe? Does the map provide data by blog or time?
