Hooray for Pajama Sunday!

I love General Conference weekend, all the uplifting goodness of church and great speakers and none of the grief of itchy church pants. In fact in our family we declare General Conference Sunday, "Pajama Sunday".

Church starts at the usual 9 AM except instead of struggling to get all the kids dressed and out the door, we just turn on BYU TV and watch from home in our pajamas. It is a great treat that we look forward to every six months.

This conference weekend was not different as we enjoyed the morning session on Sunday.

This time, after the morning session we headed over to my sister Pam's house in Bonney lake. We had a family lunch there and then got busy working together on some of the vinyl orders that needed to be fulfill. As I think I've mentioned before, cutting vinyl isn't terribly difficult but weeding it, which is basically pulling out all the parts of the vinyl that don't belong in the finished design kind of sucks.

Of course all of the cutesy fonts that people like are all curly and junk which means that you basically need the steady hand of a neurosurgeon to extract some of the stuff. Sometimes you can be very careful and still pull out some of the things that should have been left behind as you can see in this picture. Do you think anyone will notice?

DOH!

You end up cutting several extras so you can use some for spare parts to fix other stuff that has been screwed up. When you are sitting there hunched over a table with a razor blade and tweezers extracting the inside of a microscopic "e" you realize what a good deal people are getting on the vinyl you sell. Scripted fonts are evil.

Still though it is a lot of fun as long as you are all working together. We even recruited some of the older kids finding that they had as good mad weeding skills and tiny delicate fingers that made the detail work a cinch.

These labor skills will all come in handy when we decide to force the children to manufacture knock-off Gucci wallets for sale in streets of Hong Kong.

By the end of the evening we were getting pretty good at things and were pup out product at a very good clip.

Ben even got in the act having fun with the scraps...

I see a cheap Halloween costume in our future.

Zach can be Luigi. It wasn't too bad... someday we could all be dental hygienists too.

"cutesy fonts that people like are all curly and junk" ... my personal favorite part of the blog! Please tell me that you guys weren't using paring knives to "weed" what the H?

I love Conference Sunday because it's the only acceptable time to let my toddler run crazy instead of pinning her to my lap. The joys of church at home!

Good luck with your new venture.
